Fundamental stage

Before engaging me in the realization of one portrait to the watercolour, it is important that I pass by a first fundamental stage, “to translate my emotions by the specific perception of the characteristics to my model”.

My characters

For a reason or another, the face which I will paint will have allured me, is by its features, its expression, the sensitivity which it releases…

I build a history around my characters. I like to interpret their glances, their smiles, I like to give feel with the wrinkles or the roundness of the cheeks… So as to render to my models, characters and personalities.

Means

I am not satisfied to reproduce a model, or document, sketch, photograph, I give an great attention to return my emotions distinctly. To arrive there I give myself the means, which have their importance; a wise choice of pigments, an adapted paper, the mixture of several techniques…
Even if I am faithful to a certain style, each portrait has its characteristics. The technique used must “stick to the skin” of my character.

The drawing and the expression

The accuracy of the basic drawing is essential, this one is quickly acquired. The concern lies rather in the difficulty of not remaining blocked and of knowing without escaping most just possible.
Certain portraits drawn very well are draw, but and stripped, devoid of sensitivity, wedged in their features, it they are simply well made, misses them expression like the pride, curiosity, sadness or the joy...

Instantaneous one and the result

- The defined portrait like the instantaneous reflection of a life! A successful portrait is that which manages to collect the attention.
A portrait of my grandmother that I have paint much more with my heart that with my brushes, gave the feeling to several people of my entourage to see it alive or to have already met him. I knew that I had made a success of my watercolour...
