I often noticed several painters in watercolours presented works with a comparable scrim.
When I say comparable, it is even prone, even color, even page layout, fortunately... not the same signature!
It was quickly understood that all these people had followed a “training course” at such or such artist of reputation.
Far from me the thought to disparage this kind of training, quite to the contrary, but I nevertheless put myself the question to know where is the creative pleasure ?
Once the learn techniques, the painters in watercolours “beginner” should “also” learn how to create their own original painting.
It is damage which this uniformity, gives the illusion to make a success of “its” watercolour.
I could hear certain conversations between several painters in watercolours to agree on which exposes or not such or such watercolour.
This, to prevent that one does not realize that work carried out common was directed.
For a painting presented within the framework of an exposure, It is not more interesting for the artist and his public, if this one is built around a work personal and creative?
For me each watercolour is single, original, it is the witness of an emotion felt vis-a-vis a landscape, character or simply an impression of color and atmosphere.
I am often admiring in front of work of certain painters in watercolours and even if they inspire to me, never I would like to try to reproduce them, I will have the impression to steal their hearts and them soul...
“of course, this apart from any training”
If I expose a painting, it is certain that nobody other that me, its brush will have posed on my watercolor...
I know that a technical training is essential, but upon the departure there must remain flexible and to adapt to each personality, It is one of the secrecies paramount to be able to evolve/move in this so difficult technique.
My objective is not surely to discourage all the new followers of the watercolour, but rather to encourage the initiates to take autonomy and audacity in their creation.
